Humidity is the deadly enemy of the quality of electronic products, how to modernize and effectively manage the environmental humidity storage of electronic products to reduce corporate losses is an important task for high-tech electronic companies, which can be completed by the automatic temperature and humidity recorder.
The vast majority of electronic products require operation and storage under dry conditions. According to statistics, more than 1/4 of industrial manufacturing defects worldwide are related to the hazards of moisture every year. For the electronic industry, the harm of humidity has become one of the main factors affecting product quality.
Integrated circuits: The harm of humidity to the semiconductor industry is mainly manifested in the fact that humidity can penetrate the IC plastic packaging and penetrate the IC interior through gaps such as pins, resulting in IC moisture absorption. During the heating process of SMT, water vapor is formed, resulting in pressure that leads to cracking of the IC resin packaging and oxidation of the internal metal of the IC device, leading to product failure. In addition, during the soldering process of the PCB board, the release of water vapor pressure can also lead to false soldering.
According to the IPC-M190J-STD-033 standard, SMD components exposed to high humidity air must be placed in a drying oven with a humidity below 10% RH for 10 times the exposure time in order to restore the "workshop life" of the components, avoid scrapping, and ensure safety.
Liquid crystal devices: Although the glass substrate, polarizer, and filter of liquid crystal devices such as liquid crystal displays need to be cleaned and dried during the production process, they will still be affected by moisture after cooling, reducing the product's qualification rate. Therefore, after cleaning and drying, it should be stored in a dry environment below 40% RH.
Other electronic devices, such as capacitors, ceramic devices, connectors, switch components, soldering, PCBs, crystals, silicon wafers, quartz oscillators, SMT adhesives, electrode material adhesives, electronic pastes, high brightness devices, etc., are all susceptible to moisture hazards.
